Is this legal?

Yes. OfferAway connects you with a licensed real estate attorney who handles the closing in your state. We are a matching service, not a law firm. The whole reason we exist is the landmark Nosalek v. MLS PIN antitrust case that established buyers can transact this way.

What's the catch with the $2,500 fee?

There isn't one for most buyers. The $2,500 fee is only charged if an OfferAway partner attorney does not close your transaction. If they close, which is the normal path, the fee is $0. Title insurance is separate (it's required on every purchase regardless of who closes).

What if I want an agent later?

Who is the attorney working on my closing?

A vetted partner attorney licensed in your state. They handle the negotiations, paperwork, contract, title insurance, and the closing itself. You meet them, talk to them, and they answer to you, not to a brokerage.

How is this different from a discount broker?

We are attorney-led, not agent-led. A discount broker still has an agent collecting a reduced commission. OfferAway Direct removes the buyer's-agent role entirely. The attorney handles the negotiations and paperwork an agent's commission would normally cover, so the cost goes away instead of getting discounted.

What about the seller's agent?

The seller pays their own agent if they have one. With OfferAway, no money is set aside on the buyer side for a buyer's-agent commission. That savings stays with you, or comes off the price you negotiate, depending on the deal.
